“Mary’s Idea” is among Mary Lou Williams’ first recorded compositions. It was written for Andy Kirk and His Twelve Clouds of Joy on the occasion of a Brunswick recording session that took place in Chicago on April 30, 1930. This edition is a transcription of the original recording, the sole source for this piece.
